Description
MR-VP Medium is recommended for the performance of the methyl red and Voges-Proskauer tests in differentiation of the coliaerogenes group. The addition of methyl red to cultures of Escherichia coli resulted in a red color due to high acidity produced during dextrose fermentation. The addition of potassium hydroxide results in a red coloration also in the Voges-Proskauer test. The MR-VP medium enables both tests to be performed in the same medium in different tubes.
